The name, Cotyledon Design, is derived from the term for the first leaves that emerge after a plant seed has germinated. These leaves perform the essential function of making the stored reserve nutrients within the seed available, allowing the plant to begin to grow.
We believe this name represents more than just one part of a new plant forming. This essential stage in plant development is what makes growth possible and allows the future plant to reach its full potential. Although these leaves may not always show themselves or look like the mature plant leaves, and will quickly wither away, they are integral in the foundation of all plant life.
Cotyledon Design is a company that provides fundamental support for other social entrepreneurs and small businesses. We apply sustainable theory to the design process through systems thinking, collaborative and regenerative design practices, and product prototyping services using recyclable, natural, and/or biodegradable materials.
We see a brighter future on the horizon and believe that through strategic decision-making, we can achieve this reality. Cotyledon Design wants to help others create this future by working together to construct a solid foundation on which we can build a more balanced world.
